Leaving Los Angeles

They didn't actually make us swim off of the ship -- it just looks that way. We got very wet disembarking and trying to find our luggage.

Back at the Los Angeles airport we said goodbye to Sarah as she flew back to Newport and we flew back to Kelowna.

It had been a wonderful and memorable vacation. Posted by Picasa

New Year's Eve

We were all dressed up again for New Year's Eve. Each table came equipped with hats, noisemakers, and serpentine tape. Posted by Picasa

Another sunset

The end of another beautiful day. Posted by Picasa

Manzanillo

We were a big hit in Manzanillo. Crowds came out to watch us leave.

In almost every port a Mexican military boat escorted us out of the harbour. Posted by Picasa

Jeep Safari

These boys came by to watch us as our jeep safari drove into their town. Posted by Picasa

Jeep Safari

In Puerto Vallarta we took a jeep safari. The four of us traveled in our own jeep in a convoy with others. We traveled back roads (dusty!) out of town and visited several small villages. It was a great chance to see the real Mexico. Posted by Picasa

Activities

The Great Suffleboard Championship. The kids against the parents. The middle-aged parents slaughtered the young athletes. Posted by Picasa

Zihuatanejo

Resorts and homes around the bay in Zihuatanejo. Posted by Picasa

Zihuatanejo

Sarah landed without re-injuring her ankle (Dad's biggest fear). Posted by Picasa

Zihuatanejo

Scott landed safely. Posted by Picasa

Zihuatanejo

That dot in the sky is actually Sarah down in the harbour near town. Posted by Picasa

Zihuatanejo

The kids decided that they wanted to parasail. Nervous Dad reluctantly agreed after watching someone else safely do it.

That's our ship in the background. Posted by Picasa

Zihuatanejo

The beautiful beach at Zihuatanejo. The resort in the center is owned by the same company that runs Whistler resort in BC.

Notice how lousy the weather was! Posted by Picasa

Zihuatanejo

Our next stop was Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo. We actually dropped anchor in Zihuatanejo which is a small fishing town. We tendered into town and after a walking tour took a taxi over to a beach that we could see from the ship. Posted by Picasa

Acapulco at night

Acapulco at night from the ship. We departed from Acapulco after dark. Watching the lights on the hillsides surrounding the habour as we left was beautiful. One of the highlights of the trip. Posted by Picasa

Docked in Acapulco

We used the tenders in many ports. This was one of the places we were able to dock. Posted by Picasa

In Acapulco

On our city tour. Our ship was docked off to the left. Posted by Picasa

Cliff Divers

Supposedly they must dive at just the right time when the waves have come in to make sure that there is enough water to land in. Posted by Picasa

Cliff Divers

They dive in on the left, swim across this inlet where the water was rising and falling quickly, then they climb the cliff on the right.

Some of them were just young children working over the holidays. Posted by Picasa

Acapulco

We took a tour in Acapulco that included the cliff divers. It takes place on the ocean coast behind a hotel. Posted by Picasa

Next day was at sea

Another typical sunset from our balcony.

The next day was at sea on our way to Acapulco. Posted by Picasa

Cabo San Lucas

The main part of town is built around a small but pretty harbour. Posted by Picasa

It was a beautiful day and a beautiful place to stop. Posted by Picasa

Christmas Day -- Cabo San Lucas

Early on Christmas morning we arrived in Cabo san Lucas at the end of the Yucatan Pennisula. Later in the day Leena and the kids kayaked around these rock formations known as "Lands End". Posted by Picasa
